Utility Solar Incentives and Rebate Programs

Utility Solar Incentives and Rebate Programs

There are hundreds of millions of dollars available to subsidize the costs of installing solar power arrays, solar thermal hot water heaters and other types of renewable energy power plants. In 2009, there was more than $185 million available to finance these types of projects. APS, the largest utiltity company in Arizona, has been mandated to spend $1.2 billion through 2025 to fund these projects.

There several pools of money that can be tapped:

It is amazing that much of this money is not spent because the general public is simply not aware of these incentives, nor do they know how to sign up to participate in these programs. Hopefully the links below will make it easier to learn about these valuable programs and take advantage of them.

Each utility company has special teams that are dedicated to help people learn how to reduce energy consumption through Demand Side Management programs also known as energy efficient programs. The programs are designed to reduce energy consumption during peak load times of the day. The other side of the equation are Renewable Energy Power Generation programs that seek to build distributed clean green sources of power that can feed energy into the grid where it is needed most.
